1.600.000 French people placed their trust in Russia by subscribing to loans that it issued in France before 1914. Using the revolution as a pretext, Russia began by unilaterally suspending the payment of interests, and eventually failed to pay back these bonds altogether. Despite the protest of the bondholders ruined by this spoliation, Russia obstinately refused to honor its commitments for eighty years. Then in November of 1996 , anxious to clear its reputation, before launching new international borrowings, it finally paid them 400 million dollars, a figure that represents  less than  1%  of the total amount due.                                Can one have trust today in a country that, by reacting in such a way, clearly demonstrates to the world that it respects neither its commitments nor the most elementary principles of rights ?                          If you are tempted to invest in Russia today, or to lend money to this country , do not forget what happened to the French investors who made that choice before you.

Because for 100 dollars borrowed , ........................... To date Russia has reimbursed ... just one dollar !
